How is the NEBOSH Certificate assessed?

The NEBOSH General Certificate is assessed in a two-step process:

  • IG1: An online open book exam (OBE) and supporting closing interview

What's the difference between the NEBOSH International Certificate and NEBOSH National Certificate?

Both versions of the NEBOSH General Certificate will teach you the fundamentals of risk management. They both cover the same syllabus, have the same exams, and are recognised around the world.

The main difference between the courses is the application of legislation. The International Certificate is based on global best practice and international standards, like the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The National version is based around the UK legal system.

The NEBOSH International Certificate is the most relevant version for anyone working in South Africa, or hoping to work in various countries. If you hope to relocate to the UK, then the National version will be more appropriate for your future career goals.
