Safe business practices = Sound business
Safe + Sound week (12-16 June) is a national US event which raises awareness of safety and health at work programmes. It focuses on the importance of management leadership, worker participation, and a ‘systematic approach’ to identifying and fixing workplace hazards. Organisations of all shapes and sizes, in any industry, are encouraged to reveal their commitment to staff, customer, supply chain and public safety.
Amongst the co-sponsors are the National Safety Council (NSC), American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Safe working practices amount to sound business. Implementing safety and health programmes will allows organisations to proactively identify and manage hazards in the workplace before they lead to accidents, injury or illness and improves both sustainability and the bottom line. Committing to participate in this year’s Safe + Sound Week could help your health and safety programme off the ground or re-invigorate commitment to an existing programme.
