Unit 1 is a taught unit, assessed by a one hour multiple choice examination which is scanned and marked electronically. Each examination consists of forty questions (1 mark each) with one correct and three incorrect responses available per question and covers the whole unit syllabus with at least one question per unit element.
All questions are compulsory. Candidate scripts are scanned and marked electronically.
Unit HSW2 is assessed by a one-hour risk assessment activity, taken within 10 working days of sitting the multiple choice examination and carried out in the candidate’s own workplace
The practical assessment is internally assessed by the accredited course provider and externally moderated by NEBOSH.
In order to achieve the full NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work qualification, candidates will need to pass both units within a 2-year period. This 2-year time frame commences from the result declaration date of the first successful unit.
