NEBOSH International Diploma Syllabus

The NEBOSH International Diploma is the qualification to aspire to if you are seeking a successful long-term career in health and safety. You will also become recognised as a professional in your field anywhere in the world.

The course is split into 4 units - 3 taught modules and a work-based assignment to complete which will demonstrate your application of the knowledge you have gained over the course of the previous units.

Overall Learning Outcomes

On completion of each unit, delegates should be able to demonstrate their understanding of the domain knowledge covered through:

  1. The application of knowledge to familiar and unfamiliar situations; and
  2. The critical analysis and evaluation of information presented in both quantitative and qualitative forms

Unit ID: International Application of Health and Safety Theory and Practice

Unit ID consists of a written assignment set by NEBOSH (designed to demonstrate the application of the knowledge you have gained through units one to three of the course) and is approximately 8,000 words in length. Submission dates for Diploma assignments are in February, May, August and November each year.

Unit Assessments

All four units are mandatory and there are no optional units. Delegates can choose to take one, two, three or all four units at the same time or at different times.

Units one to three are assessed by one three-hour written question paper each with each paper covering the whole unit syllabus - with at least one question per unit element. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.
