The NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management is a leading international qualification designed to help businesses improve fire safety in their workplace. NEBOSH International Fire Certificate Course Facts
Units 3 units: IGC1, IFC1 and IFC2
Assessments 2 x 2-hour written exams and 1 x practical assignment
Duration 9 days; 4 days day if leaners have already completed IGC1

Course overview

The NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management will teach your staff the key principles of fire risk management, and how to implement them in day-to-day activities.

They'll gain an understanding of how and why a fire can start, how to carry out a fire risk assessment, fire prevention methods, and how to ensure the safety of people in the event of a fire.

The course is designed using international standards and good practice from organisations including:

  • The International Labour Organization (ILO)
  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
  • International Code Council (ICC)
  • The Confederation of Fire Protection Association Europe (CFPA-Europe)

Who is the NEBOSH International Fire Certificate for?

The NEBOSH International Fire Certificate is aimed at those who are in charge of making sure their workplace is safe from the risk of a fire, including managers, supervisors and employee representatives.

It is especially relevant to those who are responsible for conducting fire risk assessments and ensuring their organisation is operating in line with UAE fire regulations and international best practice. 

What does the NEBOSH International Fire Certificate cover?

The course is split into 3 units:

  • Unit IGC1: International Management of Health and Safety
  • Unit IFC1: International Fire Safety and Risk Management
  • Unit FC2: Fire Safety Practical

Those who have already passed Unit IGC1 through the NEBOSH International General Certificate are exempt from this unit.

How is the NEBOSH International Fire Certificate assessed?

IGC1 and IFC1 are both assessed with a 2-hour written examination taken in an exam centre. FC2 is a work-based assignment carried out in a workplace of your choice.
