How is the NEBOSH Certificate Assessed?

The NEBOSH General Certificate follows a two-step assessment process:

IG1: An online open book exam (OBE) and supporting closing interview
IG2: A workplace-based practical risk assessment

Both assessments must be successfully completed to obtain the qualification.

The new open book exam format replaces the previously used, time-limited written exam for Unit IG1. This allows candidates to sit both exams in the comfort and safety of their own homes or another suitable location.
