NEBOSH International Certificate

NEBOSH's most sought international qualification. The International general Certificate will offer delegates a broad understanding of key health and safety issues. The course covers:

  • the principles relating to health and safety
  • identification and control of workplace hazards
  • the practical application of this knowledge

The IGC is the accepted qualification on which to base studies for the NEBOSH Diploma.

What does the International Certificate Course Cover?

The IGC syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international standards, such as the International Labour Organisation (ILO) codes of practice. Local laws and cultural factors form part of the study programme where relevant and appropriate.
The course covers:
• the principles relating to health and safety
• identification and control of workplace hazards
• the practical application of this knowledge

How is the course assessed?

The IGC is a 10 day course divided into 3 units, each of which is assessed separately on 1 additional exam day:
• IGC1 - Management of international health and safety
• GC2 - Control of international workplace hazards
• GC3 - International health and safety practical application
IGC1 and GC2 are 2 hour exams which take place in an invigilated exam centre. GC3 is a 2 hour practical assessment carried out in the workplace no later than two weeks after sitting the final NEBOSH exam. This practical element will be assessed by Astutis and externally moderated by NEBOSH.

What will I gain by achieving the NEBOSH IGC qualification?

Delegates who successfully complete the NEBOSH International Certificate course will be certified and can apply for Technical membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH) and Associate Membership of the International Institute of Risk Management, allowing you to use AIIRSM after your name.

Who is the NEBOSH International Certificate Course For?

The NEBOSH IGC is aimed at those working in health & safety, or those wishing to develop a career in safety management. It is suitable for managers, supervisors and operational  staff from all types of organisation. It offers a broad knowledge of health and safety  issues and will help you understand and manage risk effectively in your organisation.
The IGC is broadly recognised as a first step towards a career in health and safety. So if you want to embark on a new career, then this is the qualification for you.

NEBOSH International Diploma

The qualification to pursue if you are seeking to develop a career in health and safety. The International Diploa is the mark of a health and safety professional and is recognised by employers across the globe. In undertaking this course you will cover:

  • Unit IA: Managing health and safety
  • Unit IB: Hazardous agents in the workplace
  • Unit IC: Workplace and work equipment safety
  • Unit ID: Application of health and safety theory and practice

How is the International Diploma course structured?

The NEBOSH International Diploma builds on the content covered in the NEBOSH International General Certificate and is split into 4 units (mentioned above) which are assessed individually. The course is 6 weeks long with 3 units of 10 days and 3 half day exams and you must also complete an 8,000 word work-based project (ID).

Who is the NEBOSH International Diploma Course for?

The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety qualification has been designed for professional health and safety advisers and environmental practitioners who wish to complete a post-graduate level industry recognised qualification.

NEBOSH Certificate in Oil & Gas

The NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety offers a broad understanding of key health and safety issues - specific to those operating in the Oil and Gas and Petrochemicals industries. The qualification focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore and highlights the importance of process safety management in the oil and gas industry.

What does the course cover?

The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international industry standards and covers Safety and environmental management in this industry, Hydrocarbon process safety and Fire protection and Emergency response.

Who is the NEBOSH Oil & Gas Certificate Course For?

This well respected and internationally recognised qualification is aimed at those who have the responsibility for ensuring safety as part of their day to day duties in the Oil and Gas or Petrochemicals industries, including: Managers, Supervisors, Employee representatives and newly appointed Health and Safety Advisors.
Students should already have an underpinning knowledge of safety issues and may already have studied one of NEBOSH’s Certificate-level qualifications.

It is a 4 day course which is assessed through a short answer test on the final day of the course. If you are studying via one of our remoted learning options, you will need to sit the exam in an invigilated centre - Astutis can organise all aspects of this.

What will I gain by achieving the IEMA Foundation in Environmental Management?

As well as achieving industry recognition, delegates who successfully complete the IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management will be eligible for 1 year's Affiliate Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management (IEMA).

IOSH Working Safely

IOSH's Working Safely course is an international safety qualification based on best practice. An essential short course for employees of organisations across all industry sectors, it provides an awareness of general workplace hazards and addresses why it is important for all staff members to work safely. Working Safely:

  • Assesses the candidate via a multiple choice test

IOSH Managing Safely

IOSH Managing Safely is a basic international health and safety qualification for staff in a line management, supervisory or team leader role in any size of organisation in any sector and offers an understanding of the health, safety and environmental issues in the workplace. Over 4 days in the classroom or 16-24 hours e-learning time you will cover:
